Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Zamek Księża Góra? The name literally means “Priest’s Mountain Castle,” and honestly, it lives up to that dramatic billing. Perched up on ul. Księża Góra 2 in Karpacz, this place has this whole fairy-tale castle vibe going on that somehow doesn’t feel cheesy or over-the-top. I mean, when you’re driving up through the Sudeten Mountains and you first spot it against the treeline, it actually looks like something out of a storybook – but in a good way, not in that artificial Disney sort of way.
The location is what really sells it for me. Karpacz itself is this mountain resort town that gets absolutely packed during ski season (December through March, prepare yourself), but Zamek Księża Góra sits just far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos constantly. You’re still close enough to walk down to the restaurants and shops, but when you want to retreat, you actually can. The building itself has these thick stone walls that keep things surprisingly quiet – I was expecting to hear every footstep from the room above, but it’s actually pretty well soundproofed. The rooms have this rustic-meets-refined thing happening, with heavy wooden furniture and these little touches that remind you you’re staying in something special, not just another hotel box.
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area – like, when I asked about hiking trails, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic brochure. He actually sketched out a route to avoid the crowds heading up to Śnieżka (that’s the big peak everyone wants to climb), and he was spot-on. The breakfast setup isn’t massive, but it’s solid – proper Polish fare mixed with the usual continental stuff, and the coffee is actually decent, which you can’t always count on in mountain hotels. Parking is included, which is clutch because finding a spot in Karpacz proper can be a nightmare, especially on weekends. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not perfect (the WiFi gets spotty in some rooms, and the elevator is this tiny old thing that moves like it’s thinking about it), but there’s something genuinely charming about the place that makes those little inconveniences feel like part of the character rather than real problems. If you’re looking for a place that feels like an actual destination rather than just somewhere to crash after a day in the mountains, this is your spot.

Really nice locality and overall vibe of the place, together with beautiful views and clean rooms.
What could be improved: There was a special dietary request stated in reservation, without response. Partly it is our fault not to double check with the hotel, but I would expect (when confirming booking) the reception to inform us that the request will not be taken into consideration, as during breakfast, the staff informed us that none of the food meets the dietary needs of one person in our group.
Also the pool was in construction during our stay, that seemed scheduled and not a short term works, so It also would be nice of staff to inform about this prior to your arrival. Those are small things that can affect your overall feeling from the stay.

The location is amazing with a balcony view of the ridge up to Sniezka and the room very comfortable with a great shower. Cosy and warm. Very helpful staff, good restaurant and excellent breakfast
What could be improved: The steam room needed a good clean and the wine choice in the restaurant was rather limited - the house wine OR the house wine..... :-)

The location and a variety of services such as massage and spa make it a great place to relax.
What could be improved: There is a lack of shelves in the bathroom. Also the swimming pool is small.

I was staying in this hotel with family 2+2 in 07.2024 and it was very nice experience. The hotel is pritty small what I consider as adventage. Breakfast was tasty and diverse enough for 6 days stay. My room if I remember was nr 302 with 2 bedrooms and 1 livving room, 2 toilets (1 with shower). What I liked was the location - away from city side on top of small hill with nice view (Snieżka). This however can be not welcome if you don't like to climb every day (for me it was fun) and you liek to stay in city. The hotel has nice spa area ( dry, infra, steam sunas), small gym, small swimming pool. The key to have nice stay in this palce is if the hotelll is half booked because you can enjoy all attarctions. If the hotel would be fully occupied ther could be some disadventages.
What could be improved: In my apprtment there was 2 bedrooms and 1 livving room but I missed space to do dinner myself. There is small fridge and pace to make tee, coffee but else is hardly possible unless you will take some equipment with you to prepare basic dish like sandwich or salad (I guess this is intentional to look for hotel offer). Second thing you may not like is that you may hear your neighbours in toilets but it is not so bad. There is also nice terace but somehow I noticedsounds from city road traffic probably the landscape and hills cause that the sounds are noticable in hotel as it is located on top of teh hill.

It’s location
What could be improved: Cold swimming pool and just a little warm saunas and jacuzzi

Quiet place on top of the hill with nice view on Snezka mountain from terrace. Spacious family room with large beds, good shower. Breakfast - good selection even for our 5-day stay, tasty, with a bonus of mountains view. Helpful and polite staff, just not speaking English or German very much.
What could be improved: Water in the pool was cold 4 days out of 5 - maybe good for swimming but the pool is too small for that (smaller than it looks on pictures). In general the hotel would need more maintanance - cracked floor tiles in swimming pool, missing (stolen?) window blinds in the room and many other small details. We had to specifically ask for a room cleaning, which surprised us in a 4-star hotel - we overlooked this information in the description.

View from balcony,
The forest and nature around
Breakfast was OK, and the restaurant in old building.
What could be improved: Some quests needed lessons in quiet behavior, and some of the cleaning staff too.
The shower corner was not draining the water, so much of the rooms floor was wet, and there were no tools to take away the water from the floor. You have to bring your own tools......?

The breakfast was excellent, and actually, so was out stay in general.
What could be improved: A few minor flaws, like a broken lock of a toilet door in the sauna/swimming pool zone.
