I mean, you’re staying in what’s essentially a residential neighborhood, so mornings are quiet except for the occasional dog walker or neighbor heading to work. The owner – and I’m pretty sure it’s family-run – actually knows the area like the back of their hand. They pointed me toward this tiny bakery maybe three streets over that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, those fresh bread rolls became my breakfast routine. What really got me was how they mentioned the best hiking trails without me even asking – turns out there are these amazing forest paths that start practically from the back garden. The Sudeten foothills are right there, and you can see them from the upper floor windows on clear mornings.

The rooms themselves have that lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – thick quilts, solid wooden furniture that’s clearly been around for decades, and these wonderfully creaky floorboards that somehow add to the charm rather than annoy you. Parking was never an issue (there’s space right on the property), and check-in felt more like visiting relatives than a hotel transaction. I’ll be honest, the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty if you’re trying to stream movies, but that almost felt intentional given how peaceful everything is. The bathroom was renovated recently – you can tell – but they kept the original tilework around the windows which I thought was a nice touch.

What really sealed the deal for me was stumbling back one evening after exploring Jelenia Góra (it’s maybe a 15-minute drive) and finding the front porch light left on with a little note about where to find late-night snacks in the kitchen. That 9.9 rating honestly makes sense when you experience that kind of thoughtfulness. If you’re looking for a spa resort with room service, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to feel like you’ve discovered some secret local hideaway where you can actually relax and explore the real Lower Silesia region, Za górami, za lasami delivers exactly that. Just don’t expect to find it easily – GPS gets a little confused with the house numbers on Polna Street, but that’s sort of part of the adventure.
