The owners clearly put thought into the details that matter. I mean, the Wi-Fi actually works (shocking, I know), and they’ve got this little courtyard area where you can sit with coffee without feeling like you’re on display for the whole neighborhood. The rooms are clean in that way that tells you someone actually cares – not just surface clean, but properly maintained clean. The bathroom had decent water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in smaller Romanian towns.

What really struck me was how the place feels more like staying with relatives who happen to run a guesthouse than some sterile hotel experience. The check-in was relaxed, parking was easy (there’s space right there, no circling the block), and when I asked about good local restaurants, I got actual recommendations instead of just being pointed toward the tourist traps. They suggested this family-run place about ten minutes’ walk away that I never would have found otherwise – best ciorbă de burtă I had in the whole region, actually. The 9.8 rating makes sense once you’re there because it’s clear they’re doing the fundamentals right without trying to be something they’re not. Sure, it’s not going to have a spa or room service, but the bed was comfortable, everything worked, and there’s something to be said for that straightforward approach. If you’re using Sfântu-Gheorghe as a base to explore the area – maybe heading up to Brașov or checking out the Carpathians – this is exactly the kind of place you want to come back to after a long day of driving mountain roads.
