Droga do Olczy 22, it’s actually this charming, no-nonsense guesthouse that feels more like staying at your Polish aunt’s house – if your aunt had really good taste and knew how to make travelers comfortable.

The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re far enough from the tourist madness of Krupówki Street to get some peace, but close enough that you can walk to the main drag in about fifteen minutes when you want pierogi and beer. What I really loved is that you’re right on the path that locals use to get to the Tatra foothills – I mean, you’ll see actual hikers with proper gear heading out at dawn, not just Instagram tourists. The morning sounds are incredible here: birds, distant cowbells from the highland pastures, and maybe the occasional sheep (fitting, right?). Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven in Zakopane during summer will tell you is basically a miracle.

The rooms are clean and comfortable in that solid, three-star way – nothing fancy, but everything works and the beds are actually good. The owners clearly care about the details that matter: thick towels, decent water pressure, and windows that properly block out light if you need to sleep in after a big hiking day. I stayed during shoulder season in late September, and while some places in town were already getting that end-of-summer vibe, this felt consistently welcoming. The breakfast setup is simple but hits the right notes – proper Polish bread, local honey, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since morning (even when you come down at 9 AM). One small thing that impressed me: they actually know the trail conditions and can give you real advice about which routes to take, not just hand you a generic tourist map. The 9-point rating makes total sense when you factor in the value – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it absolutely nails what it’s going for.
