HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what caught me off guard about Willa Mitia? I walked up expecting another cookie-cutter mountain lodge, but this place actually has character. It’s tucked right on Zwierzyniecka street – and if you know Zakopane at all, you’ll appreciate that this puts you in the sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to Krupówki (the main pedestrian strip) without dealing with all that tourist chaos right outside your window.

The building itself has this sort of understated Polish highland charm – not the over-the-top folk kitsch you see everywhere else in town, thankfully. Inside, it’s genuinely cozy without trying too hard. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place, but honestly, they’re cleaner and better maintained than some 4-star spots I’ve stayed at in the Tatras. I mean, the beds are actually comfortable, which… let’s be real, isn’t always a given in mountain towns. What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night – Zwierzyniecka has some traffic during the day, but once evening hits, you can actually hear yourself think. The staff genuinely knows the area too, not just the standard tourist recommendations. When I asked about hiking trails, they pointed me toward some lesser-known routes that locals use, which was perfect since I was there in July when the popular trails are absolutely packed.

Here’s the thing that really sells this place for me – the location is just practical in all the right ways. You’re maybe eight minutes on foot to the cable car station if you’re heading up Kasprowy Wierch, and there’s decent parking (which, trust me, matters a lot in Zakopane). The breakfast is nothing fancy, but it’s substantial and they actually have real coffee, not that instant stuff some places try to pass off. I stayed there during shoulder season in late September, and the whole experience felt relaxed and unpretentious – like staying at a place where the owners actually care about running a good hotel rather than just cashing in on the mountain tourism boom. The 9-star rating honestly makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point. It’s not luxury, but it’s exactly what you want after a day of hiking or dealing with the crowds in town center.

First of all, the hostess was very welcoming. We arrived very late, but she greeted us warmly and showed us to our room.
Secondly, the location of the villa is fantastic. On the map, it might seem a bit far from the center, but you just step onto the next street, walk down, and you’re already on Krupówki! I was so happy about this! 😍

Our room was very clean, cozy, and well-prepared for our arrival, with a charming balcony. I’m attaching all the photos to give you a better idea of how it really looks. The villa itself is wooden and very warm. There’s free parking available, and the shared kitchen is also very cozy—you wouldn’t even call it shared (we didn’t encounter anyone else there during our stay).

In short, book this villa if you want excellent accommodation at a great price. I’ll definitely return here again! 🥹

Taxis were about 30 Zloty to the train station. It's a very easy walk in - about 15 - 20 minutes to the main centre of town. We were skiiing so we got some taxis, a bus and walked to the other ski centre. Owner was very friendly and helped us get taxis. It looks like it would be a lovely place for staying if you were walking in summer.
