You know what struck me first about Willa Marma? It’s actually tucked right on Zwierzyniecka Street, which means you’re basically a five-minute walk from Zakopane’s main drag without dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your window. I mean, you can still hear the occasional horse-drawn carriage clip-clopping by (they’re everywhere in Zakopane), but it’s not like staying right on Krupówki where you’ve got people wandering around until 2 AM looking for more oscypek cheese.

The B&B itself feels properly Polish – none of that generic hotel chain nonsense. The owners clearly live here or nearby because they actually know which hiking trails aren’t completely packed with tour groups, and honestly, that kind of local intel is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience the Tatras without fighting crowds for every photo. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place – clean, comfortable beds, decent bathrooms – but it’s the little things that make it work. Like, they actually understand that people staying here are either coming back exhausted from hiking or heading out early to beat the cable car lines, so check-in is refreshingly flexible. The breakfast situation is pretty solid too, with real regional touches instead of just throwing some grocery store pastries on a table and calling it continental.

What really sells me on this place though is the location math – you’re close enough to walk to the Gubałówka funicular or catch a bus to the better trailheads, but far enough from the main tourist strip that you can actually get some sleep. Plus, and this might sound random, but the parking situation actually works here, which if you’ve ever tried to drive around central Zakopane in summer, you’ll understand why that matters. The 9-point rating makes sense when you factor in that it’s doing exactly what a good mountain town B&B should do – giving you a comfortable base without pretending to be something fancy it’s not. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend most of my time hiking rather than shopping for wooden trinkets on Krupówki.
