You know what caught me off guard about Willa Dziubas II? Walking up to this place on Małe Ciche street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot – but man, sometimes ratings don’t tell the whole story. The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Zakopane at all. You’re tucked away from the tourist chaos on Krupówki (trust me, you’ll appreciate this at night when the party crowds get loud), but it’s still an easy walk to everything that matters. I mean, you can hit the main drag in maybe 10-15 minutes, but when you want to escape back to somewhere that feels more like the real Zakopane, you’ve got it.
The family running this place – and yeah, it definitely has that family-run vibe – they actually seem to care about getting the details right. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no weird upselling or confusing key card situations. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re clean in that “someone’s grandmother would approve” way, and honestly, the beds are way more comfortable than I expected. What really sold me though was breakfast – nothing too elaborate, but proper Polish bread, decent coffee, and they had oscypek from local shepherds, which you don’t always find even in Zakopane hotels. Small thing, but it shows they’re paying attention to place rather than just going through the motions.
Here’s the thing about this part of town – Małe Ciche translates to “Little Quiet,” and it actually lives up to the name. You’ll hear church bells in the morning instead of tour buses, and there are these great walking paths that connect to the bigger hiking trails without having to navigate through the main tourist bottlenecks. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free too, which anyone who’s driven in Zakopane during peak season will tell you is basically a miracle. The whole setup just works – you get that mountain town feel without feeling like you’re stuck way out in the middle of nowhere. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to do some serious hiking and wanted a place that felt more like a base camp than a tourist hotel. Sometimes the best spots are the ones that don’t try too hard, you know?
