Wielka Krokiew Residence&SPA – Zakopane – JACUZZI, SAUNA, TĘŻNIA SOLANKOWA, SPA, GRILL
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Wielka Krokiew Residence&SPA – Zakopane – JACUZZI, SAUNA, TĘŻNIA SOLANKOWA, SPA, GRILL, I’ll be honest — the name is quite a mouthful, but it pretty much tells you everything you need to know. This three-star property sits on a quiet street just off the main tourist drag in Zakopane, and you immediately get the sense that someone put real thought into creating a proper wellness retreat. The building has that modern mountain lodge vibe without trying too hard, and there’s actually free parking right on site, which — trust me — is worth its weight in gold in this town.
Location & Getting Around
You know what really surprised me? How perfectly positioned this place is for couples looking to escape the crowds but still be close to everything. The location gets a 9.5 rating from guests, and I can see why — you’re tucked away on Bronisława Czecha street, which means you avoid the chaos of the main pedestrian areas, but you can still walk to Krupówki street in about ten minutes. The ski jump (that’s what “Wielka Krokiew” refers to, by the way) is practically next door, and if you’re into hiking, the Tatra trails are easily accessible without having to navigate through the tourist madness.
The Wellness Experience
Here’s where this place really shines — the wellness facilities are genuinely impressive for a three-star property. The sauna is spacious and well-maintained, and honestly, after a day of hiking or skiing, it’s exactly what you need. They’ve got this salt graduation tower (that’s what “tężnia solankowa” means) which creates this amazing microclimate that’s supposed to be great for your respiratory system — I mean, I’m no expert, but it definitely felt refreshing. The jacuzzi area is clean and properly heated, though it can get busy in the evenings when everyone has the same post-adventure recovery idea.
Rooms & Amenities
The room I stayed in was well-appointed without being fancy — think clean lines, mountain-inspired decor, and everything you actually need rather than stuff that just looks good in photos. The beds are comfortable, and most rooms have decent mountain views, though you’ll want to specify when booking if that matters to you. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night despite being relatively close to the action. They’ve also got a grill area that guests can use, which is perfect if you want to cook up some local kielbasa or just enjoy a beer outside without heading into town.
Why Guests Love It
After spending time here, I get why couples rate this place so highly — it strikes that sweet spot between being a proper retreat and staying connected to what makes Zakopane special. You’re not paying five-star prices, but you’re getting solid wellness amenities and a location that locals would actually choose. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the less touristy hiking trails or the best places to grab oscypek cheese. It’s the kind of place where you can have a proper mountain experience without feeling like you’re just another tourist checking boxes.
