Look, I’ve stayed in my share of Zakopane apartments over the years, and honestly, Szafran caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a 3-star place and brace yourself for disappointment? Well, this isn’t one of those times. The location on Boruty Spiechowicza is actually perfect – you’re close enough to hear the buzz from Krupówki when the evening crowd gets going, but far enough that you’ll actually sleep at night. I mean, parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Zakopane), but the owners are pretty good about giving you the real scoop on where to leave your car without getting a ticket.

What really gets me about this place is how it feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental. The Szafran apartment has this lived-in comfort that you don’t usually find – think quality wooden furniture that looks like it belongs in the Tatras, not some generic IKEA setup. The kitchen is honestly better equipped than mine at home, which matters when you’re staying longer than a weekend or when the weather turns and you’d rather cook than brave the tourist restaurant crowds. The windows frame the mountains in a way that makes you want to just sit there with your morning coffee, and trust me, I’m not usually the type to get poetic about views. There’s something about the light hitting the peaks that just… works, you know?

The thing that sealed it for me – and why I keep coming back – is how the whole experience feels effortless. Check-in was smooth, no awkward key exchanges in random parking lots like some places do. The apartment stays warm even when it’s brutal outside (and if you’ve been to Zakopane in January, you know what I’m talking about), and the shower pressure is actually decent, which is honestly a minor miracle in older Polish buildings. It’s maybe a 10-minute walk to the main action, but you’re also right there for the trails if you’re the early morning hiking type. The local grocery store is literally around the corner – not the touristy one that charges double, but the actual neighborhood shop where you can grab real food at real prices. I guess what I’m saying is, for what you pay, this place just makes sense. It’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just genuinely comfortable in a way that makes you want to extend your stay.
