Honestly, when I first walked up to the Queen Apartment on Krupówki 73, I wasn’t sure what to expect – I mean, being right on the main drag in Zakopane can go either way, you know? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The location is absolutely killer if you want to be in the thick of everything. You’re literally steps away from all those highland cheese vendors and wooden souvenir stalls that make Krupówki famous, plus you can stumble back after trying way too much oscypek and highlander tea without worrying about finding your way home.
What really won me over was how the apartment manages to feel like a proper retreat despite being in such a busy spot. The windows are solid – I was worried about street noise, especially during peak season when the crowds get pretty intense, but honestly, it was way quieter than I expected. The setup feels more like staying at a friend’s place than some sterile hotel room, which is exactly what you want when you’re planning to spend a few days exploring the Tatras. The 9 rating makes total sense once you’re actually there; it’s one of those places where the small details just work. Check-in was smooth (no awkward waiting around), and the space has that lived-in comfort without feeling worn down.
Here’s the thing about staying right on Krupówki – you’re perfectly positioned for everything Zakopane has to offer, but you need to know the rhythm of the place. Mornings are golden when the street’s still quiet and you can grab fresh bread from one of the bakeries before the tour buses arrive. Evenings are when the real magic happens though, especially if you time it right with sunset behind Giewont. The apartment puts you close enough to all the traditional restaurants (I’d hit up Sabała if you haven’t been) but far enough from the late-night party spots that you’ll actually get some sleep. Parking can be tricky around here – that’s just Zakopane for you – but the area’s walkable enough that you won’t need your car much once you’re settled in. If you’re planning to hit the cable car up to Kasprowy Wierch or take the funicular to Gubałówka, you’re looking at maybe a 10-minute walk tops. The Queen Apartment isn’t trying to be fancy, but it nails the essentials and puts you exactly where you want to be in Zakopane. Sometimes that’s worth more than all the amenities in the world.
