VisitZakopane – Palermo Apartment

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from another apartment rental in Zakopane, but VisitZakopane’s Palermo place on Karłowicza street actually surprised me. The location is honestly perfect – you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the main Krupówki pedestrian zone, but far enough away that you won’t hear drunk tourists singing Polish folk songs at 2 AM (trust me, that’s a thing here, especially during peak season).

The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there, not like those sterile corporate rentals you see everywhere. I mean, it’s got that 4-star polish without being stuffy about it. The kitchen is properly equipped – and I’m talking about having decent knives and pans that aren’t warped, which matters if you’re planning to cook some of those amazing local kielbasa from the market. The WiFi actually works well enough for video calls (tested it extensively), and there’s this cozy sitting area where you can watch the Tatras peek through the windows on clear mornings. Speaking of mornings, the place gets great natural light, which is honestly rare in some of these mountain town apartments.

What really sold me on this spot was how the hosts handle things – check-in was smooth, no awkward key handoffs or confusing instructions. Plus, they clearly know the area. When I mentioned I wanted to hit some lesser-known hiking trails, they pointed me toward paths that most tourists never find. The building itself is quiet (important after long days hiking), and parking isn’t the nightmare it can be closer to the center. I stayed here during shoulder season in early fall, and honestly, the whole setup felt more like staying at a friend’s place than a rental. The 9-point rating makes total sense – it’s not trying to be some luxury resort, but everything just works the way it should. If you’re the type who wants to experience Zakopane without dealing with hotel breakfast crowds or fighting for space on the main strip, this is your spot.
