Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Zakopane, and VisitZakopane’s apartment on Jaszczurówka-Bory is one of those spots that just gets it right. The moment you pull up to 9A, you’re already in this quieter pocket of town where the pine trees – those świerki in the name – actually mean something. I mean, you wake up and there’s this genuine forest smell drifting through the windows, not just the tourist-trap chaos you get closer to Krupówki. The apartment itself has that solid, no-nonsense Polish mountain vibe – clean lines, decent furniture that doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall apart when you sit down, and honestly, better WiFi than half the fancier places I’ve tried.

What really sold me on this place was how it sits in the landscape. Jaszczurówka area is sort of this sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds stumbling back from the bars at 2 AM. There’s actual parking (which, if you’ve ever tried to park near the center of Zakopane in summer, you know is basically worth its weight in gold), and the whole building feels like it belongs there instead of being dropped in by some developer who’s never seen a mountain. The apartment gets morning light really well – I’m usually not the type to care about that stuff, but when you’re having your coffee and looking out at the Tatras, it actually matters. You know what surprised me? How quiet it stays even when the town gets busy. I was there during one of those packed August weeks, and while you could hear some activity, it never felt overwhelming.

The three-star rating is spot-on – this isn’t trying to be some luxury resort experience, and that’s exactly why it works. Everything you need is there and functioning properly, from the kitchen setup (which actually has decent knives, thank god) to the bathroom that doesn’t make you feel like you’re camping. The whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward waiting around while someone fumbles with keys. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to do some serious hiking and wanted a place that felt more like a base camp than a tourist bubble. It’s the kind of spot where you can actually settle in for a few days and feel like you’re experiencing Zakopane rather than just passing through it.
