You know what caught me off guard about VIP Apartamenty Gorące Źródła? The name sounds way fancier than what you actually get – and honestly, that’s not a bad thing. I mean, when you’re staying right on Jagiellońska Street in Zakopane, you’re basically in the heart of everything without the pretentious attitude that usually comes with “VIP” in the name.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Zakopane rather than just visiting it. You can walk to the main square in about five minutes, but you’re far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night (well, most nights – there’s the occasional group stumbling back from the bars, but that’s Zakopane for you). The hot springs aspect is what really sold me though. I’ve stayed at plenty of places that promise thermal baths and deliver lukewarm disappointment, but these guys actually deliver. The water has that slight sulfur smell that lets you know it’s the real deal – not everyone loves it, but I find it oddly comforting after a day hiking in the Tatras.
What I really appreciate is how they’ve managed to keep things comfortable without going overboard. The apartments themselves are solid – nothing Instagram-worthy, but everything works and the beds are actually decent. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too, which matters when you want to grab fresh bread from the bakery down the street and make breakfast without paying hotel restaurant prices. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak season (July and August are absolutely nuts), but there’s usually something within a block or two. The staff speaks enough English to help you out, though brushing up on basic Polish phrases definitely doesn’t hurt – they appreciate the effort. I stayed there in late September once and it was perfect – still warm enough for the thermal baths to feel amazing, but the summer crowds had cleared out so you could actually enjoy the town. That 8-point rating feels about right to me – it’s not going to revolutionize your travel experience, but it does everything you need it to do without any major headaches, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the mountains anyway.
