Villa Taternik – 3 Bedrooms Apartment – Mountain View

So I stumbled across Villa Taternik last spring when I was looking for something with actual space in the Tatra foothills, and honestly? This place surprised me. It’s tucked up on Cyrhla street in Hrube – you know, that winding road that climbs toward the mountains where half the GPS systems get confused. But once you find it (there’s a little wooden sign that’s easy to miss), you’re in for something pretty special.

The apartment itself is way more spacious than most places you’ll find in this part of Poland. Three proper bedrooms, which is rare – usually these mountain rentals cram beds wherever they’ll fit. What really got me though was sitting on that balcony in the morning with coffee, watching the mist roll off the peaks. I mean, you can actually see the Tatras from here, not just some distant hills that someone optimistically calls “mountain views.” The kitchen’s well-stocked too, which matters when you’re planning day hikes and want to pack decent lunches instead of paying tourist prices at every mountain hut. There’s this cozy living area where we ended up spending evenings planning routes and, well, recovering from them with local beer.

Location-wise, it’s about a 15-minute drive to Zakopane if you’re heading for the main tourist action, but honestly, staying up here in Hrube puts you closer to some of the better trailheads without the crowds. The owners – lovely couple, by the way – left detailed notes about which trails to hit and where to park (pro tip: summer parking fills up fast near popular routes, but they know the local spots). It’s quiet enough that you’ll actually sleep well after those long mountain days, but you’re not completely isolated. There’s a decent little grocery in the village, and the family restaurant down the hill serves proper pierogi that’ll fuel your next adventure. Check-in was smooth, parking’s right there, and the Wi-Fi actually works when you need to check weather conditions or upload those summit photos. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay – we definitely will next time we’re exploring this part of the mountains.
