First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Villa Casablanca, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star property tucked away on Strada Plopilor. The villa sits in a quiet residential area that feels refreshingly removed from the tourist crowds, yet you’re still close enough to Braşov‘s medieval center that you can walk there in about fifteen minutes. What immediately caught my attention was how the staff genuinely seemed to care — not in that rehearsed hotel way, but like they actually wanted you to enjoy your stay.
The Neighborhood Advantage
You know what I love about this location? It’s in one of those neighborhoods where locals actually live, so you get a real feel for Romanian life beyond the postcard shots. There’s a small grocery store just down the street where I grabbed some excellent local cheese, and the tree-lined streets make for pleasant evening walks. The parking situation is fantastic — they have their own private lot right on site, which honestly saved me a lot of stress since finding spots in Braşov’s old town can be a nightmare during peak season.
The Room Experience
My room had this charming mix of traditional Romanian touches and modern comfort that actually worked really well together. The bed was properly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that made me linger longer than I probably should have. What surprised me was how quiet everything was — even though you’re in the city, the double-glazed windows kept out most street noise, so I slept better than I expected.
Dining and Amenities
The breakfast spread at their restaurant was honestly better than I anticipated for a four-star place. They had this incredible selection of local pastries and the coffee was strong enough to properly wake you up — something I can’t say about every hotel I’ve stayed at in Romania. I mean, they also had the usual international options, but why would you skip the local stuff when it’s this good? The spa facilities are modest but well-maintained, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring Braşov’s cobblestone streets.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about Villa Casablanca — it gets the balance right between being polished enough to feel special but relaxed enough that you’re not walking on eggshells. The location really is exceptional (guests consistently rate it 9.5 out of 10, and I can see why), especially if you’re traveling as a couple and want somewhere romantic but not overly fussy. You’re close to Râşnov Citadel, the Black Church, and all the main sights, but you come home to this peaceful residential street where you can actually hear yourself think. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay by a day or two — which, honestly, I probably should have done.
