You know what struck me first about Villa 33? It’s actually tucked right on Sienkiewicza Street, which honestly is one of those addresses that sounds way fancier than it feels when you’re walking up to it. I mean, don’t get me wrong – the location is brilliant – but it’s got this understated vibe that I really appreciated. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Krupówki, Zakopane’s main pedestrian strip, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos when you just want to grab coffee in the morning.
The building itself has that classic Zakopane charm without trying too hard, if that makes sense. Three stars on paper, but honestly feels like they’re being modest about it. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing revolutionary, but everything works properly, which you’d be surprised how rare that can be in some mountain towns. What I really loved was how quiet it gets at night. Sienkiewicza isn’t one of those streets where you’ve got people stumbling back from bars at 2 AM, so you actually get decent sleep before hitting the trails. Speaking of which, if you’re here for hiking (and let’s be real, why else would you be in Zakopane?), the staff actually knows their stuff about the local routes. Not just the obvious tourist ones either – they pointed me toward some lesser-known paths that ended up being highlights of my trip.
The whole operation feels family-run, though I never asked directly. Check-in was smooth, parking wasn’t a nightmare – which, trust me, matters a lot in Zakopane during peak season. I stayed there in late September when the crowds were thinning out but the weather was still decent for getting up into the Tatras. Perfect timing, actually, because you get that crisp mountain air without the summer madness. The breakfast was solid Polish fare – nothing Instagram-worthy, but it’ll fuel you for a day of hiking without breaking the bank. What really sells me on Villa 33 is that it feels like a place locals might actually recommend to their visiting friends, rather than one of those tourist traps that exists solely to extract money from people who’ll never come back. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want – somewhere genuine that just gets the basics right and doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not.
