The woman at reception (I think her name was Elena?) knew everything about the area – not just the tourist stuff, but like, where to get the best cozonac in town and which hiking trails around the salt mines are worth your time versus the ones that are just okay. She mentioned that most guests come for the spa treatments and the clean mountain air, which honestly makes sense once you’re there breathing it. The rooms are spotless, and I mean really clean, not just surface-level tidy. The bed was comfortable enough that I actually slept through the night, which rarely happens when I’m traveling. You know what I loved? The windows actually open properly, and there’s no traffic noise at night – just the occasional dog barking or someone walking by, but in a peaceful way, not annoying.

The whole area around Nicolae Balcescu is pretty walkable, and you’re close enough to the town center that you can grab dinner somewhere decent without needing a car. I walked to this little restaurant called Casa Bunicii one evening – maybe a ten-minute stroll – and the food was surprisingly good. What strikes me about Vila Moldavia Class is that it feels like what a 4-star hotel should be without trying too hard. The 9.9 rating seemed almost too good to be true when I booked, but honestly, I get it now. It’s not that everything is perfect – the WiFi could be faster, and the shower pressure varies depending on the time of day – but it’s the kind of place where those small things don’t really matter because everything else just works. If you’re planning to explore this part of Romania, especially if you’re into the whole spa town experience or just want a quiet base for day trips, this is actually a solid choice. I’d definitely stay here again, which is saying something because I usually like to try new places.
