Here’s what I love about the location: you’re close enough to walk to Crama Haiducilor for dinner (honestly, try the ciorbă de burtă if you’re feeling adventurous), but far enough from the train station that you won’t hear every tourist group at 7 AM. The neighborhood has this authentic Romanian feel – you’ll see locals heading to work, kids playing in the small parks, that sort of thing. And if you’re planning to hit the hiking trails up to Omu Peak or just want to explore beyond the castle, you’re perfectly positioned without being stuck in the commercial district. The host was genuinely helpful too, not in that overly chatty way that makes you uncomfortable, but available when you need recommendations or have questions about the area. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and while some places in town were already winding down, Vila Ferdinand maintained that welcoming atmosphere. The 9.9 rating isn’t just inflated reviews – it’s because they’ve figured out what travelers actually want: a clean, comfortable base that doesn’t break the bank but doesn’t feel like you’re roughing it either.
