You know what? Don’t let the two-star rating fool you with Hotel Ustronie – honestly, this little place punches way above its weight. I mean, when you’re staying right on Kąpielowa Street (which literally translates to “bathing street,” by the way), you’re basically in the heart of what makes Karpacz tick. The location is actually pretty perfect if you ask me – close enough to hear the gentle bustle of people heading to the thermal baths, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant street noise.

The thing about Ustronie is that it feels like someone’s well-kept family guesthouse rather than your typical tourist trap. The rooms are clean and straightforward – no fancy bells and whistles, but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed. What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re practically in the center of town. The walls are thicker than you’d expect, and there’s this nice courtyard area where you can actually sit with a coffee in the morning without feeling like you’re on display. Parking was surprisingly easy too – there’s usually space right nearby, which anyone who’s driven through Polish mountain towns will tell you is not a given.

Here’s what I really appreciated though: the staff actually knows the area. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but they’ll point you toward the better hiking trails that don’t get completely packed, or tell you which thermal pools are less crowded in the early evening. The breakfast is simple but solid – proper Polish bread, local honey, decent coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around all morning. And honestly, after spending your days exploring the Karkonosze Mountains or soaking in the mineral baths, you don’t need some elaborate hotel experience – you just want a comfortable bed and a hot shower, which Ustronie delivers without any fuss. The 8/10 rating makes total sense once you realize this place knows exactly what it is and does it well, without trying to be something it’s not.
