I’ve stayed in plenty of mountain apartments, but this one gets the balance right between that cozy cabin feel and actually having decent design. The owners clearly put thought into the interiors – there’s this modern Slovak aesthetic going on that doesn’t feel like they just grabbed everything from IKEA (though honestly, some IKEA wouldn’t hurt in the bathroom storage department, but that’s me being picky). What really works here is how they’ve positioned the place. You’re right in Štrbské Pleso, which means you can walk to the lake in literally two minutes, but you’re also not dealing with the chaos of being directly on the main drag where all the tour buses drop people off.

The apartment itself feels more spacious than most places you’ll find around the High Tatras – I mean, you can actually move around without bumping into furniture, which is saying something. Check-in was surprisingly smooth too, none of that awkward “meet me at the gas station with the broken sign” situation you sometimes get with apartment rentals. The kitchen is properly equipped if you’re planning to cook, which makes sense because eating out every meal in this area gets expensive fast, and honestly, sometimes you just want to make coffee at 6 AM without getting dressed. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – you get the mountain silence thing without feeling completely isolated from civilization.

The location is actually perfect if you’re here for hiking or just want to experience the Tatras without staying in some massive resort hotel. You’re close enough to the cable car that you don’t need to drive (parking around here can be a nightmare during peak season), but far enough from the main tourist cluster that you feel like you have some space to breathe. The 9 rating makes total sense when you factor in that combination of location, space, and the fact that everything just works – the WiFi, the heating, the shower pressure. It’s the kind of place where you don’t spend half your vacation dealing with broken stuff or trying to figure out how things work. Sure, it’s not the cheapest option in the area, but honestly, when you’re surrounded by those mountain views and you have a comfortable base to come back to after a day of hiking, the extra cost feels worth it.
