Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “udanypobyt Apartamenty Przy Lesie 2,” I had no idea how to pronounce it, but after spending a few nights here in Kościelisko, I get why they chose it. “Udany pobyt” basically means “successful stay” in Polish, and honestly? They nailed it. This place sits right on Rysulówka street, which sounds fancy but it’s actually this quiet residential road that backs up directly to the forest – and I mean directly. You step out the back and you’re literally surrounded by trees, which is pretty incredible when you consider you’re still close enough to walk into the village center.
The apartments themselves are solidly four-star without being stuffy about it. You know what I loved? The windows are huge, and during my stay in late spring, I’d wake up to this green wall of forest that made me forget I was even in an apartment. The kitchen actually works – I mean, really works, not like those hotel kitchenettes where you can barely boil water. I made proper meals here, which saved me a ton since eating out in the Tatra region every night adds up fast. The beds are comfortable (firm, if that matters to you), and the whole place feels more like borrowing a friend’s well-appointed apartment than staying in typical tourist accommodation. Parking was straightforward too – there’s space right there, no hunting around the narrow village streets like you sometimes have to do in this area.
What really sets this place apart is the location though. Kościelisko isn’t as touristy as Zakopane, but you’re still perfectly positioned for hiking – the trails into the Tatras are right there, and if you’re into that scene, you can catch the cable car up to Kasprowy Wierch without dealing with the Zakopane crowds every morning. The village itself has this authentic feel where locals actually live and work, not just cater to tourists. There’s a decent grocery store within walking distance (crucial for those apartment stays), and honestly, the whole area just feels more… real, I guess. The rating of 8 out of 10 seems about right – it’s genuinely good without being perfect, and the imperfections are minor stuff like maybe needing better shower pressure or clearer check-in instructions. But when you’re sitting on the terrace in the evening with forest sounds as your soundtrack and the Tatra peaks visible through the trees, those little things don’t really matter. It’s the kind of place where you actually relax instead of just checking tourist boxes.
