TatryTop Apartament Zamoyskiego 2 Zakopane
You know what struck me first about TatryTop Apartament on Zamoyskiego? The address might say 9A, but you’re actually looking for number 2 – I mean, don’t let that throw you off like it did me initially. It’s tucked into this quiet residential stretch that honestly feels more like staying at a local friend’s place than some tourist trap. The whole Zamoyskiego area has this authentic Zakopane vibe – you’re close enough to hear the morning bustle from Krupówki when the wind’s right, but far enough away that you can actually sleep past 7 AM.
The apartment itself is pretty solid for a 3-star setup. I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Zakopane over the years, and what I really appreciated here was how they’ve managed to balance that mountain cabin feel without making everything feel cramped or overly rustic. The windows face toward the Tatras – well, you get glimpses of them between the neighboring buildings – and there’s something really satisfying about having your morning coffee while watching the peaks catch the early light. The kitchen’s actually functional too, which matters if you’re planning to stay a few days and want to grab groceries from the Biedronka down the street instead of eating out every meal. Speaking of which, you’re maybe a 10-minute walk from some decent local spots that don’t cater exclusively to tourists.
What really sold me on this place though was the attention to small details. The heating works properly (crucial in Zakopane winters, trust me), the wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and – this might sound minor but it’s not – they’ve got proper blackout curtains. You’d be surprised how many mountain places seem to think everyone wants to wake up at sunrise. The hosts were pretty responsive too; I had a question about parking and got a helpful answer within a couple hours, not the usual next-day response you get from bigger hotels. The location puts you within easy reach of the cable car stations if you’re planning to hit Kasprowy Wierch or Gubałówka, but honestly, some of the best hiking trails start from neighborhoods you can walk to from here. I ended up discovering this little path behind the cemetery that leads up toward Antałówka – probably wouldn’t have found it if I’d been staying closer to the main tourist zone. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Zakopane rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.
