You know what caught me off guard about TatryTop Apartament Grama? It’s tucked away on ul. Droga do Olczy – which honestly sounds intimidating if you don’t speak Polish, but it’s actually this quiet street that leads toward the Olcza area, just far enough from Zakopane’s main tourist chaos to let you sleep properly. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to Krupówki (the main pedestrian street) in about fifteen minutes, but you won’t have drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 2 AM singing folk songs.

The apartments themselves are pretty solid for a 3-star place – nothing fancy, but everything works, which is more than I can say for some of the pricier spots I’ve stayed at in the Tatras. The kitchenette actually has decent cookware, not those flimsy pans that can barely heat water. That matters if you’re planning to grab some oscypek cheese and kielbasa from the local market and want to make a proper meal instead of eating out every night (your wallet will thank you). The Wi-Fi is surprisingly reliable too, which saved me when I needed to check trail conditions on the mountain rescue website – something you’ll want to bookmark if you’re here for hiking. What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night. I was expecting some noise since Zakopane can get pretty rowdy, especially during ski season, but this street stays peaceful. You can actually hear the wind in the trees, which sounds cheesy but honestly helps you sleep after a day scrambling up Giewont or dealing with the crowds at Morskie Oko.

The parking situation is decent – there’s space, and you don’t have to play musical cars every morning like in the town center. That’s clutch if you’re planning day trips to places like Bukowina Tatrzańska or want to drive to some of the less touristy trailheads. The hosts were straightforward during check-in, no unnecessary small talk but they knew their stuff when I asked about bus schedules to Gubalówka. They’ve got that mountain hospitality thing down – not overly chatty, but genuinely helpful when you need something. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the shower could have better water pressure, but for the price point and that 9-rating (which seems about right), it delivers what most people actually need: a clean, quiet base camp for exploring the Tatras without the tourist-trap markup of staying right on Krupówki.
