The location is actually perfect if you know the Smokovec area. You’re right in that sweet spot between Starý and Nový Smokovec, which means you can walk to the funicular station in about five minutes (trust me, I timed it with my morning coffee), but you’re far enough from the main tourist drag that it stays quiet at night. The building itself is a bit tricky to find the first time – look for the B2-3 marking because GPS will get you close but not exactly there. There’s decent parking nearby, though it fills up during peak season, so I’d suggest asking them about spots when you book. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to create this cozy, almost boutique feel despite being in what’s essentially a converted residential space. The rooms have this warm, woody mountain aesthetic that doesn’t feel forced or theme-park-y. You can actually hear the forest from your window, especially in the early morning when the tourist buses haven’t started their rounds yet.

Honestly, I get why this place has such a high rating now. It’s not trying to be some fancy resort – it’s just doing the mountain guesthouse thing really, really well. The owners clearly know their stuff about what travelers actually need after a day hiking in the Tatras. Everything feels thoughtful, from the way they’ve set up the common areas to how they handle check-in (super smooth, by the way). During my stay in late September, the place had this perfect autumn mountain energy – you could smell wood smoke from somewhere nearby, and the whole area had that crisp, quiet feeling you only get in the mountains when summer crowds thin out. If you’re planning to explore the High Tatras and want something that feels authentic rather than touristy, this is your spot. Just don’t expect a huge lobby or fancy amenities – what you get instead is something much better: a place that actually feels like it belongs in these mountains.
