Štýlový Zrub Martina A s kúpacou Kaďou a detským ihriskom!
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to this place in Ždiar – I mean, the name alone is quite a mouthful (Štýlový Zrub Martina A s kúpacou Kaďou a detským ihriskom, if you’re wondering). But honestly, this wooden cabin completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s tucked right into the village at number 104, and the moment you step out of your car, you’re hit with that crisp mountain air and the sound of absolutely nothing – which, after coming from Bratislava’s traffic, felt like pure luxury.
The hot tub situation is actually brilliant here. I’d seen it mentioned online but figured it would be one of those tiny, disappointing affairs. Nope – it’s properly sized and positioned so you can soak while looking out at the Belianske Tatry peaks. The water temperature stays perfect, and there’s something magical about being in hot water while the mountain air hits your face. The kids’ playground is surprisingly well-thought-out too – not just some afterthought equipment, but actual wooden structures that blend with the whole cabin aesthetic. My friend’s seven-year-old basically lived on that swing set while we adults pretended to supervise from the hot tub.
What really gets me about this place is how it strikes that balance between rustic charm and actual comfort. The interior feels authentically Slovak – all that beautiful wood and traditional touches – but you’ve got proper heating, solid WiFi (yes, even up here), and a kitchen that’s actually equipped for real cooking, not just heating up instant noodles. The beds are comfortable too, which honestly isn’t always a given in mountain accommodations. I sleep terribly in new places usually, but something about the quiet here and maybe the mountain air just knocked me out completely. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they gave us actual useful local tips (not just tourist brochure stuff), and when we had a minor issue with the outdoor lighting, they sorted it within an hour. Parking’s right there, no hiking your luggage up some impossible path. And here’s the thing about Ždiar itself – it’s perfectly positioned if you want to explore the High Tatras without dealing with the crowds in Poprad or Tatranská Lomnica. You’re close enough to hit the hiking trails or skiing (depending on season), but you come back to this peaceful village where the biggest decision is whether to fire up the grill or walk to the local pub. That 9/10 rating? Yeah, I get it completely.
