You know what caught me off guard about this place? I was expecting just another decent apartment rental, but walking into this spot on Štepánkovická really made me stop and take it in. The whole setup feels like someone who actually lives in Slovakia designed it – not some corporate chain trying to guess what travelers want. The mountain views hit you right when you walk in, and I mean, when you’re literally under the Tatras like this, those peaks aren’t just scenery – they’re your neighbors.
The apartment itself has this really comfortable modern vibe without being sterile. Honestly, I’ve stayed in plenty of places that look great in photos but feel cold in person – this isn’t one of those. The kitchen actually has everything you need (and I mean everything, down to a decent coffee setup), which matters when you’re planning day trips into the mountains and want to grab breakfast before heading out early. The bed situation is solid too – after long hiking days, that’s not negotiable. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. Štrba isn’t exactly a party town, but you’d be surprised how sound carries in some of these mountain locations.
Here’s the thing about staying here though – you’re perfectly positioned for both the tourist stuff and the local experience. The train station is close enough that you can easily get to Poprad or even venture toward Spiš Castle if you’re feeling ambitious, but you’re also in this sweet spot where locals actually live and work. I grabbed groceries at the little shop nearby and had genuine conversations with people who weren’t trying to sell me anything. The location means you can hit the major Tatra trails without fighting for parking at dawn (trust me on this one), and when you come back exhausted, you’re not dealing with hotel lobbies or breakfast schedules. You just… come home. The whole area has this authentic mountain town feeling that a lot of places have lost to tourism, but Štrba hasn’t – at least not yet. If you’re the type who wants to actually experience Slovakia instead of just passing through it, this place gets it right.
