SOVIA WELLNESS CHATA s jacuzzi kaďou a saunou, Čingov
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “SOVIA WELLNESS CHATA” I thought it might be one of those overly fancy places that’s all style and no substance. But this little gem tucked away in Čingov absolutely blew me away, and I mean that in the best possible way.
The thing about Slovak Paradise National Park is that most tourists just blast through on the hiking trails and miss the real magic of staying right in the heart of it all. This wellness chalet sits at address 158 in Čingov, which if you know the area, puts you literally minutes from the Suchá Belá gorge trail – you can actually hear the water rushing when you’re soaking in that incredible jacuzzi they’ve got. And wow, that jacuzzi. I’ve stayed at plenty of four-star places that claim to have “spa amenities,” but this is different. It’s this gorgeous wooden hot tub that feels like it belongs in a Scandinavian fairy tale, except you’re surrounded by the dense forests of the Carpathians instead.
The sauna experience here is honestly something else – they’ve got it positioned so you can step right out into the fresh mountain air, which in winter is absolutely invigorating (and slightly terrifying if you’re not used to it). What really got me though was how quiet everything is. I mean, Čingov isn’t exactly Times Square to begin with, but at night you’ll hear owls and maybe some rustling in the woods, and that’s about it. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, parking is right there (which matters when you’ve been hiking all day with muddy boots), and they’ve somehow managed to make the place feel luxurious without being pretentious about it.
You know what surprised me most? The attention to little details that actually matter. The towels are proper thick ones, not those thin hotel things. There’s decent water pressure in the shower, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in this part of Slovakia. And the bed – well, after a day scrambling up those metal ladders on the Prielom Hornádu trail, you really appreciate a mattress that doesn’t feel like cardboard. The whole place has this warm, cedar-like smell that just makes you want to slow down and breathe deeply.
If you’re planning to visit during summer, book way ahead because hikers have clearly figured out this secret. Spring and fall are actually my favorite times here though – fewer crowds on the trails, and there’s something magical about soaking in that outdoor jacuzzi when there’s a slight chill in the air and the leaves are changing. Winter’s beautiful too, but make sure you’ve got proper tires for getting up here when it snows.
The 10-rating on booking sites isn’t just people being generous – this place genuinely delivers on what it promises. It’s not trying to be a grand hotel or compete with the spa resorts down in the valleys. Instead, it’s this perfect little wellness retreat that understands why people come to Slovak Paradise in the first place: to disconnect, recharge, and remember what silence actually sounds like.
