You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Słoneczny on Bolesława Prusa street – I mean, it’s tucked away on this quiet residential side street in Karpacz, and honestly, I almost missed it. But that turned out to be exactly what made it special. While everyone else is fighting for parking near the main tourist drag, you’re just a two-minute walk from all the action but actually getting some peace and quiet at night.

The thing about this place is that it feels like someone’s really paying attention to the details that matter. The owners (and I’m pretty sure they live on-site) seem to genuinely care about whether you’re comfortable, not just whether you’ve paid your bill. My room was small but smart – everything worked properly, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow is these days. The shower had proper water pressure, the Wi-Fi didn’t cut out every five minutes, and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a marshmallow. Little things, but they add up, you know?

What really won me over was the location knowledge they shared. Instead of handing me some glossy tourist brochure, they actually told me which trails to hit early in the morning before the crowds, where to grab decent coffee that isn’t tourist-priced, and – this was clutch – where to park for free when exploring the area. Turns out there’s this whole network of hiking paths that connects right behind the neighborhood, so you can literally walk out the back and be on mountain trails within ten minutes. The Śnieżka cable car is close enough that you can walk there, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the tour bus chaos at 7 AM. During peak season (July and August get pretty nuts), this distance becomes your best friend. I stayed in October when the leaves were turning, and honestly, the whole area just felt more authentic – fewer crowds, better prices at restaurants, and the staff everywhere had time to actually chat instead of just rushing you through. The rating of 9.4 makes total sense once you realize they’re not trying to be everything to everyone, just really good at what they do.
