You know, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Sichlański Dworek & SPA on Sądelska street – honestly, the address looked a bit tucked away when I was booking it. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s got this charming manor house vibe that feels authentically Polish without being kitschy about it, and the moment you walk through those doors, there’s this immediate sense that someone really cares about the details here. The lobby has these beautiful wooden beams and period furniture that actually looks comfortable enough to sink into with a book, not just pose next to for photos.
What really got me though was how they’ve managed to blend the historical character with genuinely good modern amenities – I mean, the spa facilities are legitimately impressive. The treatment rooms have this perfect dim lighting and you can actually hear birds chirping from the grounds, which sounds cheesy but honestly made the whole experience feel more grounded. The staff seems to know their stuff too; the massage therapist I had knew exactly where I was holding tension (too many hours hunched over my laptop, apparently) and didn’t try to upsell me on products afterward. The thermal pools are smaller than what you’d find at those big resort chains, but that’s actually better – you’re not fighting for space or dealing with screaming kids. I went around 8 PM and basically had the place to myself.
The rooms are where this place really shines though. Mine overlooked the garden area, and I loved falling asleep to the sound of absolutely nothing – no traffic, no late-night revelers, just proper quiet. The bed was one of those where you actually sleep through the night instead of tossing around, and the bathroom had heated floors which is such a small thing but made those chilly mountain mornings so much more bearable. Parking was super easy too, right on the property, which if you’ve ever tried to navigate narrow European streets with a rental car, you’ll appreciate. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the WiFi gets a bit spotty in some corners of the building – old stone walls, I guess – but honestly, that forced digital detox might be exactly what you need. The restaurant downstairs serves this incredible pierogi that tastes like someone’s grandmother made it, and the local beer selection is way better than I expected. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because leaving feels like too much effort, and I mean that in the absolute best way.
