The moment I walked up to number 15 – it’s actually an apartment building, which I wasn’t entirely sure about from the photos – I could tell someone really cared about this place.

The location is what really sold me, though. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Sibiu’s Old Town, but tucked away on this quiet residential street that most tourists never find. You can walk to the Grand Square in maybe three minutes, but you won’t hear any of the evening crowds or early morning street cleaners. The building itself has that classic Romanian architecture – thick walls that actually keep things cool in summer and warm in winter, not like those modern places with paper-thin walls. And honestly, the fact that it’s apartment 2 means you’re not dealing with a bunch of stairs after a long day exploring those cobblestone streets (your feet will thank you).

What struck me most was how thoughtfully everything was set up. The owner clearly gets what travelers actually need – there’s proper lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed for your devices, and the kitchen is stocked with real dishes, not just the bare minimum you usually get. The green theme isn’t just some gimmicky marketing thing either; they’ve got plants throughout that actually make the space feel alive, and the whole sustainability approach feels genuine rather than performative. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which matters when you’re trying to plan your next day or video call home.

Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of town – I mean, it’s medieval streets, so that’s expected – but they give you clear instructions about where to leave your car, and there’s usually spots available on the nearby streets if you don’t mind a short walk. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward; no waiting around in a lobby or dealing with front desk drama. One thing that really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night. Even though you’re central, the courtyard location means you get proper sleep, which is more than I can say for some of the places right on the main squares.

The 9.8 rating isn’t just inflated reviews either – after staying here, I get it. It’s one of those places that handles all the little details that can make or break a trip. The shower has actual water pressure, the bed is comfortable enough that you don’t wake up sore, and everything feels clean without that overwhelming chemical smell some places have. If you’re planning to explore Sibiu properly – and you should, because this city doesn’t get nearly enough credit – this is exactly the kind of base you want. Close enough to everything that matters, but peaceful enough that you can actually recharge between adventures.
