Шпінь 2 turned out to be a pleasant surprise during my trip to the Carpathians last spring. Located on Dovbush Street in Vorokhta, this three-star hotel truly deserves its 8.0 rating. The staff welcomed me very warmly — check-in went smoothly even though I arrived a bit earlier than standard time. Parking is free right by the hotel, which is very convenient, especially when you’re hauling skis and other gear.
The room was clean and cozy, with a nice mountain view (ask for an east-facing room — the sunrise there is incredible). Wi-Fi works reliably, which is important for those who still need to answer a couple work emails even during vacation. Breakfasts are homemade and hearty — I especially loved the cottage cheese pancakes and local sour cream. The hotel owner gave excellent advice about hiking routes — thanks to her I visited Shypit waterfall, which is definitely worth seeing.
On the downside — the walls are a bit thin (you can hear neighbors in the morning), and hot water sometimes runs out if all guests shower simultaneously in the evening after hikes. But these are minor issues compared to the hospitality and atmosphere. It must be especially cozy here in winter — the fireplace in the lobby creates a true Carpathian atmosphere. I’ll definitely return here again, maybe even for ski season.
Hotels in the Carpathians provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Hutsul crafts and experience daily life in historic mountain villages.
