Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Select City Center Apartments” on Muresenilor Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this little gem absolutely delivers on that front.
The location is actually what sold me first. Muresenilor 17 puts you smack in the middle of Brașov’s old town, which means you’re literally walking distance from everything that matters. I mean, you can stumble to the Black Church in about five minutes, and the Council Square – where all the action happens – is practically around the corner. What I really loved though was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so central. The street itself isn’t one of those main tourist drags, so you don’t get the late-night party crowds wandering past your windows. Trust me, that matters when you’re trying to sleep after a day of climbing up to the Brașov sign (which, by the way, you can actually see from some of the upper floor windows if you crane your neck just right).
The apartments themselves are honestly better than I expected for the price point. They’ve got that clean, modern feel without being sterile – sort of like staying in a friend’s well-kept place rather than a hotel room. The kitchenettes are properly equipped, not just for show, which is perfect because Romanian grocery stores have amazing local stuff you’ll want to try. I spent a morning making coffee and planning my day from the little dining table, watching locals head to work below. The Wi-Fi actually works well too, which isn’t always a given in older Brașov buildings. One small thing – the shower pressure could be better, but it’s hardly a dealbreaker. Check-in was smooth, and the staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure I knew where to find good papanași (you’ll thank me later for that tip). Parking can be tricky in this part of town, but they’ll point you toward the nearby lots, and honestly, you won’t need a car much once you’re settled in. The whole historic center is perfectly walkable, and when you want to venture out to Poiana Brașov or the surrounding villages, the bus connections are right there. What really impressed me was that 9-point rating – after staying there, I totally get it. It’s not luxury, but it’s exactly what you want from a home base in one of Romania’s most beautiful cities.
