But this little gem on Karłowicza Street totally surprised me. It’s tucked away just far enough from the main Krupówki chaos that you actually get some peace, but close enough that you can still hear the distant hum of Zakopane’s nightlife if you’re into that sort of thing.

The place has this authentic highland charm that doesn’t feel forced – you know how some hotels try way too hard with the regional theme? Not here. Walking in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details. The wood smells real (because it is), the floors creak in that comforting old-building way, and the whole vibe just feels… right. I mean, you’re literally staying in what feels like a proper Podhale residence, not some corporate attempt at one. The rooms are genuinely cozy without being cramped, and honestly, the beds are fantastic – which matters more than people think when you’ve been hiking around the Tatras all day. And here’s the thing – for a 4-star place, it doesn’t have that sterile hotel feel that makes you afraid to touch anything. You can actually relax here. The location on Karłowicza puts you within easy walking distance of the cable car stations, but you’re not dealing with the constant foot traffic that makes some of the more central spots feel like living in a parade route. If you’re planning to explore the mountains properly, this is honestly one of the better bases I’ve found in Zakopane.
