You know what surprised me about Rezydencja Biały Jar? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy but somehow gets everything right. I mean, it’s officially a 2-star hotel, but honestly, I’ve stayed at “luxury” places that felt more sterile and forgettable than this spot on Konstytucji 3 Maja. The building itself has this quiet, residential vibe — you’re basically tucked into Karpacz’s neighborhood life rather than stuck in some tourist bubble. When I first walked up, I actually wondered if I had the right address because it feels more like staying at someone’s well-kept guesthouse than a traditional hotel.
The location is pretty clever if you know Karpacz at all. You’re close enough to walk to the main drag and all the hiking trailheads (the Śnieżka trail is maybe 15 minutes on foot), but far enough from the weekend crowds that you can actually sleep in on Sunday mornings. I stayed there during peak season in July, and while the town center was absolute chaos with families and tour groups, our street stayed surprisingly peaceful. The parking situation is way better than most places in town too — there’s actually space for your car, which anyone who’s driven around Karpacz in summer will appreciate. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward; no lengthy speeches about facilities or breakfast times, just friendly efficiency.
What really sold me on the place was the attention to small things. The rooms smell like actual cleaning products rather than that generic hotel air freshener, the windows open properly (you’d be surprised how many mountain hotels have sealed windows), and the beds are firm enough that you don’t feel like you’re sinking into a marshmallow after a day of hiking. The whole place has this homey Polish hospitality thing going on — not polished or Instagram-perfect, but genuinely comfortable. I overheard other guests chatting with the staff like they were old friends, which tells you something about the atmosphere. The 8.3 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to compete with the big resort hotels up the mountain, but for the price point and the authentic local experience, it delivers exactly what you’d want from a Karpacz base camp. Plus, if you’re planning to spend most of your time outdoors anyway — which, let’s be honest, is why you’re in the Sudetes — you don’t need marble bathrooms and a spa. You need a good night’s sleep and easy access to the trails, and Biały Jar nails both.
