Q Resort and Spa

You know what surprised me about Q Resort and Spa? It’s tucked away on Valea Larga in Săcele, and honestly, I almost missed it the first time – the area’s got that residential feel where you’re not expecting to stumble across a proper spa hotel. But there it was, and I’m glad I found it because this place punches way above its 3-star rating.

The location’s actually pretty clever when you think about it. Sure, you’re not in the heart of Brașov, but you’re close enough (maybe 15 minutes by car) and you get this quieter, more local vibe that I really appreciated. The mountains feel closer here – I mean, you can practically hear the difference in how quiet it gets at night. No city traffic, just the occasional dog barking or someone’s car pulling into a driveway. The spa facilities are what really set this place apart though. I’ve stayed at plenty of 4-star places with worse wellness setups, honestly. The treatment rooms have this warm, almost homey feel – not sterile like some hotel spas can be. And the staff actually knows their stuff; the masseuse I had could tell I’d been sitting in cars too long (guilty as charged from all the mountain driving).

The rooms are solid – nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable with decent Wi-Fi, which matters when you’re trying to upload all those Carpathian mountain photos. Parking’s easy, which is a relief if you’ve ever tried to navigate Romanian city centers with a rental car. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk folks speak good English, plus they actually know the area well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the touristy stuff. I’d say the 8.8 rating makes sense – it’s not luxury, but it delivers on what it promises and then some. The value’s definitely there, especially if you’re planning to spend time in the spa or use it as a base for exploring the region without dealing with Brașov’s crowds and higher prices.
