When I was looking for a place to stay in Transcarpathia, Pyate Koleso caught my attention with its unusual name and location in the small town of Lazeshchyna. This three-star hotel turned out to be a real gem — a cozy family-run establishment on Tsentralna Street, where locals are always ready to give directions or recommend the best spots for walks. The rooms here are modest but clean and comfortable, with everything you need for rest after a long day of mountain travels. I especially loved that in the morning you could hear birds singing instead of city noise — such a rarity these days!
The hotel staff is very friendly and knows all the secret trails in the area, which is invaluable for hiking enthusiasts and nature photography lovers. Breakfasts here are homemade, with local products — I especially recommend trying the Transcarpathian dumplings and fresh honey (the owners have an arrangement with local beekeepers). Parking is free right at the entrance, which is very convenient, especially if you’re traveling by car through mountain serpentines. In summer you can enjoy the cool evenings on the terrace, and in winter — the coziness by the fireplace in the lobby.
The only thing to keep in mind is the fairly early quiet hours at the hotel (after 10 PM it’s better to speak in whispers), but for me this was more of an advantage than a drawback. Wi-Fi works steadily, though the speed isn’t cosmic — quite sufficient for viewing photos and planning the next day. For this price and in such a picturesque location, Pyate Koleso definitely deserves its 8 out of 10 points — I would return here again, especially in autumn, when the forests around Lazeshchyna blaze with all shades of yellow and red.
