I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Prestige ApartHotel on Strada Carierei, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. Boy, was I wrong. This little gem sits in one of those perfectly positioned spots where you’re close enough to Braşov’s medieval center to walk there in about 15 minutes, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with tour groups stomping around at 7 AM.
The aparthotel concept really works here, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights. Each unit has a proper kitchenette – not just a mini-fridge and microwave, but actual cooking space where you can prep some of those amazing Romanian tomatoes and cheese you’ll find at the local markets. The staff clearly takes pride in this place, and it shows in those little touches that matter. Fresh towels that actually smell clean, decent water pressure (trust me, this isn’t guaranteed everywhere in Romania), and – get this – they actually had good coffee in the lobby. Not that watery stuff you usually get at smaller hotels.
What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re on a main street. The windows are solid, and honestly, the neighborhood just settles down after dinner. I mean, you’ll hear the occasional car, but nothing like the chaos you’d get staying right in the old town. The location is actually perfect for exploring – you’re walking distance from both the historic center and some of the trailheads if you want to hike up to Tampa Mountain or venture toward Poiana Braşov. There’s a decent grocery store just a few blocks away, plus a handful of local restaurants that don’t cater to tourists (always a good sign).
The 9.8 rating isn’t just inflated reviews – you can feel why people love this place. It’s got that sweet spot combination of being professionally run without feeling corporate. The check-in was smooth, parking was straightforward (and free, which is rare in Braşov), and the room was spotless. Sure, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards – it’s fairly standard modern hotel furniture – but everything works, everything’s clean, and the beds are actually comfortable. You know what impressed me most? They had blackout curtains that actually blocked light, and the air conditioning worked without sounding like a helicopter landing on the roof.
If you’re the type who needs to be right in the thick of things, this might feel a bit removed. But if you want a reliable, comfortable base for exploring Braşov and the surrounding Carpathian region without paying old-town prices, this is exactly what you’re looking for. I’d definitely stay here again – and that’s saying something, because I’m usually pretty picky about hotels.
