I mean, Ghimbav itself isn’t exactly a tourist hotspot, but that’s actually part of the charm here.

The studios are tucked away on Strada Nouă, which is this quiet residential street where you can actually hear yourself think. No traffic noise keeping you up at night, which was a relief after dealing with some of the busier accommodations in Brașov proper. The building has that clean, modern Romanian aesthetic – nothing fancy, but everything works the way it should. Check-in was straightforward, though I’d recommend calling ahead if you’re arriving late since it’s not a huge operation with 24/7 front desk staff. What really impressed me was how well-maintained everything felt. You know how some 3-star places can feel a bit worn around the edges? Not here. The studio I stayed in had this practical layout that made sense – proper kitchenette with actual cooking space, not just a mini-fridge and hope for the best. The bed was comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathroom had decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than people admit.

Here’s the thing about the location – Ghimbav is about 15 minutes from Brașov if you’re driving, and parking here is actually free and easy, which is a huge plus if you’ve dealt with the parking situation in the city center. You’re also really well-positioned for day trips to Râșnov Citadel or even Bran Castle without fighting the crowds that stay right in the tourist zones. There’s a decent grocery store within walking distance, and the local bakery (can’t remember the exact name, but it’s the one with the blue awning) does these amazing cozonac that’ll ruin your diet plans. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you experience the place – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the basics really, really well. The staff clearly cares about the details, and you can tell they’re used to hosting people who are actually staying for more than just a quick overnight. I ended up extending my stay an extra day because it felt like a proper base camp for exploring the area, rather than just a place to crash. If you’re looking for nightlife and restaurants within stumbling distance, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want a quiet, well-run place where you can decompress after hiking in the Carpathians or wandering around medieval towns all day, Premont Studios hits that sweet spot perfectly.
