Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Poprad, and Premium Apartment Centrum honestly surprised me – in the best way possible. You know how sometimes a place looks decent online but then you show up and it’s just… meh? This wasn’t that. The building sits right on Námestie sv. Egídia, which I mean, if you know Poprad at all, you’ll recognize as one of those charming little squares that actually feels authentically Slovak rather than touristy. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a really design-conscious friend’s place than a typical hotel room. Everything’s clean and modern without being sterile, if that makes sense – there’s this nice balance between having all the amenities you actually need (proper coffee maker, decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, bathroom with good water pressure) and still feeling like you’re somewhere with character.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re basically in the heart of things. The windows are well-insulated, so you’re not dealing with street noise, but step outside and you’re literally a two-minute walk from some of the better local restaurants – there’s this little Slovak place around the corner that does incredible bryndzové halušky, though honestly the locals will probably roll their eyes at me for mentioning the most obvious dish. The location thing is actually pretty perfect if you’re using Poprad as a base for the Tatras, because you can walk to the train station without dragging your luggage halfway across town, but you’re also close enough to the old town area that you feel like you’re experiencing the actual city. Parking was surprisingly straightforward too – there’s street parking that’s not impossible to find, which anyone who’s driven around Central European city centers will tell you is basically a minor miracle.
Here’s what really sold me on the place though: the little details actually work. The kitchen setup is functional enough that you could cook a proper meal if you wanted to (decent-sized fridge, stovetop that heats evenly), the bed is comfortable without being too soft, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – the lighting is actually good. You know how most hotel rooms have either fluorescent brightness or romantic dimness with no middle ground? They figured out how to make it feel natural. The check-in process was smooth, the person managing the property was responsive when I had questions, and honestly, for a 4-star rating, it delivers on what you’d expect without any of those annoying hidden fees or “oh by the way” surprises. If you’re planning to explore the High Tatras and want somewhere in Poprad that feels like a home base rather than just a place to crash, this works really well. It’s not the cheapest option in town, but given the location and quality, it’s actually reasonable – especially if you’re splitting costs with someone.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
