Południowy Apartament z Kominkiem i Tarasem
You know what struck me first about this place? The moment I walked into Południowy Apartament z Kominkiem i Tarasem, it actually felt like someone’s home – not that sterile hotel vibe you get everywhere else. The fireplace isn’t just for show either; we used it every evening during our March stay when the Tatra nights were still pretty chilly. There’s something really satisfying about having that crackling fire going while you’re looking out at the mountains through those big windows.
The location on Nędzy Kubińca is honestly perfect if you want to be in Kościelisko but away from the tourist chaos. It’s this quiet residential street – I mean, you’ll hear the occasional dog bark or neighbor starting their car in the morning, but that’s about it. What I loved is that you’re maybe a ten-minute walk to the main drag where all the restaurants are, but you feel like you’re staying in an actual Polish mountain village. The terrace, which honestly is what sold us on the place, faces south so you get sun pretty much all day. We had our morning coffee out there even when it was barely above freezing – just bundled up with blankets and watched the mist clear off the peaks.
The apartment itself is well… it’s exactly what you’d want for a mountain getaway. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook (we picked up some kielbasa and local cheese from the market), though honestly we ended up eating out most nights because the food scene in Kościelisko is better than I expected. Parking was never an issue – there’s a spot right outside, which anyone who’s dealt with mountain town parking will appreciate. The host was super responsive too; we had a minor issue with the heating remote on our first night and they sorted it out within an hour. One tiny thing – the wifi can be a bit spotty during heavy snow, but honestly, isn’t that kind of the point of a mountain retreat? We ended up playing cards by the fire instead, which was actually way better than scrolling through our phones. If you’re looking for that authentic Tatra experience without the hostel scene or the overpriced resort thing, this place gets it right.
