Look, I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Pokoje Gościnne U Małgorzaty on that quiet stretch of Hrube Wyżne. The name’s a mouthful, sure, but once you’re inside, you get why this little place has such a stellar reputation among people who actually know Zakopane. Małgorzata (and yes, she’s real – you’ll probably meet her during check-in) has created something pretty special here, and it’s not just the jacuzzi and sauna that everyone talks about, though honestly, after a day hiking around Gubałówka or getting your legs destroyed on the Morskie Oko trail, sinking into that jacuzzi feels like pure magic.
What really got me was how the place manages to feel both cozy and spacious at the same time. The rooms aren’t huge – this isn’t some corporate hotel chain – but they’re thoughtfully laid out, and you know what? Sometimes that’s better. You’re close enough to the main Krupówki strip that you can walk there in about fifteen minutes (though it’s uphill on the way back, fair warning), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos and those awful horse-drawn cart tours clopping around at all hours. The morning quiet here is something else – just birds and maybe the occasional dog barking, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to recover from too much oscypek and beer the night before. I mean, the whole point of coming to the Tatras is to decompress, right?
The sauna situation deserves its own mention because it’s actually well-maintained, not like some of these places where it feels like an afterthought. Małgorzata clearly takes pride in keeping everything clean and functional – the kind of attention to detail you notice when you’ve stayed in enough places where corners get cut. Parking’s straightforward too, which matters more than you’d think in Zakopane where finding a spot near the center can be a nightmare, especially during ski season or those crazy busy summer weekends. The whole setup just works without any fuss, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need – a place that delivers on its promises without trying to oversell you on amenities you’ll never use. At this point, I’ve recommended it to probably half a dozen friends, and they all end up booking return trips, which tells you something.
