You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Karpacz over the years, and Pokoje Gościnne Mirena on Krótka street is one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. It’s tucked away on this quiet little side street – and I mean actually quiet, not that “peaceful location” nonsense you usually read about. When I say Krótka 1, I’m talking about maybe a two-minute walk from the main drag, but it feels like you’re in a completely different world.
The thing about Mirena is that it’s run by people who actually care about what they’re doing. I mean, you can tell from the moment you walk in – there’s this attention to detail that you don’t get at the bigger hotels. The rooms are spotless (and I’m pretty picky about that), but more importantly, they feel like someone’s home rather than some sterile chain hotel setup. The beds are honestly fantastic – I’m talking about the kind of sleep where you wake up and actually feel rested, which is saying something after hiking around Śnieżka all day. And speaking of hiking, this place is perfectly positioned if you’re planning to hit the trails early. You can walk to the Kopa lift station in about ten minutes, maybe fifteen if you’re taking your time.
What really sold me on this place was the practical stuff that nobody talks about but everyone cares about. Parking? Actually available and free, which is basically a miracle in Karpacz during peak season. The check-in was smooth – no standing around waiting while they figure out their system. The owners speak decent English too, which helps if your Polish is as rusty as mine. I stayed there in both summer and winter, and honestly, the winter might be even better because you’re so close to everything but you don’t have to deal with the crowds that pack into the hotels right on the main strip. In the evening, you can hear the wind in the trees instead of tour groups wandering around. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building (I know, revolutionary concept), and the heating in winter is proper heating, not some token effort that leaves you shivering under extra blankets. For the price point, it’s honestly incredible value – I’ve paid twice as much for places that weren’t half as comfortable. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Karpacz that feels more like a local experience than a tourist trap, this is it.
