“Pod Spadowcem”

HOTEL OVERVIEW
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Pod Spadowcem when I first walked up to the building on Spadowiec street – it’s tucked into this quiet residential area that feels almost too peaceful for Zakopane. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special. The location is actually brilliant if you know the town – you’re literally a five-minute walk from the main Krupówki promenade, but once you step inside, all that tourist chaos just melts away. I mean, you can still hear the occasional horse-drawn carriage clip-clopping by (they use this street as a shortcut), but it’s more charming than disruptive.
The place has this unpretentious mountain lodge vibe that feels authentic rather than trying too hard. My room was simple but thoughtfully put together – nothing fancy, but the bed was surprisingly comfortable and the bathroom actually had decent water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in older Zakopane buildings. What really struck me was how clean everything was, and there’s this subtle pine scent throughout the building that I’m pretty sure comes from the wood paneling rather than any artificial air freshener. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests were sorted – they gave me solid recommendations for hiking trails that weren’t completely overrun with tour groups, and even offered to store my muddy boots after I came back from a trek up Gubałówka.
Here’s the thing about Pod Spadowcem that you won’t get from the typical hotel photos: it’s positioned perfectly for people who want to experience Zakopane without being trapped in the tourist bubble. You can walk to the cable car station in about ten minutes, grab groceries at the little shop around the corner, or duck into one of those family-run restaurants where locals actually eat (the woman at reception pointed me toward this incredible place that serves proper oscypek that’ll ruin you for the tourist versions). Parking was straightforward too – they’ve got a small lot that’s usually got space, which is honestly a relief because driving around central Zakopane looking for parking is nobody’s idea of a good time. The whole experience felt like staying at a friend’s well-run guesthouse rather than some corporate hotel, and for a 3-star place, it punches well above its weight. If you’re looking for a base camp for exploring the Tatras without the resort hotel markup, this is your spot.

Beautiful surrounding in the woods, lots of snow :), peaceful. A Xmas tree and wood for the fireplace was waiting us as courtesy of host. Host offered us a ride from the parking slot, plus we could use their sledge, our two year old loved it!

The location is perfect if you want to be close to nature. This must be the closest house to the national park in zakopane. Its really quiet and peaceful with a nice garden.

Jeśli ktoś ceni sobie ciszę i spokój to właśnie tutaj, blisko dużo szlaków do przejścia. Dziękujemy za ogromna życzliwość od właścicieli. Na pewno tam wrócimy :D
