You know what caught me off guard about Plaza35? The moment I walked in, it felt like someone actually thought about how people live when they travel. The street’s actually pretty quiet, especially considering you’re still close enough to Sibiu’s old town that you can walk there without planning your whole day around it.

The thing about this place is that it gets the little stuff right. The rooms have this sort of understated elegance – not trying too hard to impress, but you can tell someone cared about the details. I’m talking about things like actually good lighting (you can read without squinting), and the beds are firm enough that you don’t feel like you’re sinking into quicksand. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile, and there’s decent water pressure, which… well, if you’ve traveled around Romania much, you know that’s not always a given.

What really won me over, though, was how the staff actually seemed to know Sibiu. I asked about getting to the Christmas market during winter season, and instead of just pointing me toward the main square, they told me about the less crowded entrance near the Evangelical Cathedral and mentioned which evenings tend to be busiest. That’s the kind of local insight you can’t Google. The breakfast spread is solid too – proper Romanian options mixed with international stuff, and the coffee’s actually decent. I stayed during what felt like a busy period in late spring, but the common areas never felt chaotic or overcrowded.

The location really works in its favor. You’re on the newer side of Sibiu, so parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in the historic center, but you’re still close enough that you’re not stuck taking taxis everywhere. There’s a decent grocery store about a five-minute walk away, and honestly, the neighborhood has this residential feel that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like you’re just… staying somewhere normal for a while. The 9.6 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s the kind of place where everything just works the way it should. Plaza35 feels like what happens when someone builds a hotel for actual travelers instead of just checking boxes on a hospitality manual.
