You know what struck me first about Pensiunea Toscana? It’s tucked away on Stejerisului Street in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour buses haven’t found yet. I mean, you’re still right in Brașov – maybe ten minutes’ walk from the main square if you take your time – but there’s this quieter, more residential vibe that honestly made me sleep better than I have at bigger hotels in the city center.

The whole place has this warm, family-run feeling that’s becoming harder to find these days. When I checked in, the owner actually remembered my name from the booking email and asked about my flight – not in that scripted hotel way, but like they genuinely cared. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully done rather than flashy. Everything works (the shower pressure is surprisingly good, and the Wi-Fi actually reaches every corner), but it’s the little touches that got me. Fresh flowers in the room, windows that open wide enough to let in that crisp mountain air, and – this might sound silly – but the coffee setup in the morning isn’t just instant packets thrown on a tray. They’ve got a proper little breakfast spread that changes based on what’s seasonal.

What really sells this place, though, is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’ve got locals walking their dogs in the morning, a little bakery about three blocks down that opens ridiculously early, and you can actually hear the church bells from the Black Church without the constant hum of traffic. Parking isn’t a nightmare either – there’s space right there, which anyone who’s driven in Romanian cities will appreciate. The 9.5 rating makes sense once you’re there for a day or two. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing everything really well. I stayed during late spring when the weather was perfect for walking around, and honestly, coming back to Toscana each evening felt like retreating to a friend’s place rather than just another hotel room. If you’re the type who prefers character over chain hotel predictability, and you don’t need a concierge or room service, this is exactly what Brașov should feel like.
