Karina (I’m assuming she’s the owner) has this attention to detail that you just don’t see in chain hotels – fresh flowers in the lobby, actually good coffee in the morning, and rooms that feel lived-in rather than sterile. The place only has three stars officially, but honestly? It punches way above its weight. My room was spotless, the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-bed backache, and the shower had proper water pressure. Small victories, but they matter when you’re traveling.

What really won me over was the local knowledge. When I asked about getting to the nearby thermal baths – because let’s face it, that’s why most people end up in Caciulata – the staff didn’t just point me in the right direction. They told me which entrance to use, what times to avoid the crowds, and even mentioned this little family-run restaurant tucked away that I never would have found on my own. That kind of insider info is worth its weight in gold. The pension is actually perfectly positioned for exploring the area without being stuck in the thick of things. You can walk to the main thermal complex in about ten minutes, but you’re far enough away that you don’t have to deal with the tour bus chaos. Parking was easy too, which anyone who’s driven in Romanian resort towns will appreciate.

I’ll be honest – this isn’t a fancy place. Don’t expect a spa or a pool or some elaborate breakfast buffet. But what you get is genuine hospitality, clean comfortable rooms, and that rare feeling that you’re staying somewhere that actually cares about your experience. The 9.2 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and in a world full of hotels that promise the moon and deliver disappointment, that’s refreshing as hell.
