Moieciu de Sus is perfectly positioned for exploring – you’re close enough to Bran Castle that you can beat the tour bus crowds if you leave early, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos. The hosts (and I mean this in the best way) are the type who’ll sit you down with a coffee and draw you a map of hiking trails that aren’t in any guidebook. They’ll also tell you exactly when to visit Piatra Craiului National Park and which routes to avoid when it’s muddy. Parking is right there – no dragging luggage up three flights of stairs or hunting for a spot on some narrow street. The breakfast is that proper Romanian spread with local cheese and homemade jam, though honestly, the coffee could be stronger. But here’s the thing – places like this are getting harder to find as everything gets corporatized and sanitized.
