You know what surprised me most about Pensiunea Casa Eden? It’s tucked away in this tiny mountain village called Mărişel that honestly feels like Romania’s best-kept secret. I mean, you’re driving through these winding forest roads about 30 minutes from Cluj-Napoca, wondering if your GPS has lost its mind, and then boom – there it is at number 137, looking like someone’s dream mountain retreat that they actually decided to share with the world.
The place has this authentic pension feel that you just don’t find anymore – I’m talking about real wooden beams, that slightly creaky charm of a house that’s been loved for years, and the kind of breakfast spread where the owners actually ask if you want seconds. The family running it clearly knows every hiking trail within a 20-kilometer radius, and they’ll casually mention stuff like “oh, if you head toward Vlădeasa peak tomorrow, take the path behind the old church – it’s muddy after rain but the views are insane.” That kind of local intel you can’t Google. The rooms are simple but spotless, with those thick mountain quilts that make you want to sleep in way past checkout time, and honestly, the WiFi works better than most city hotels I’ve stayed in.
What really gets me is how they’ve managed to keep it feeling like a family home while still being properly professional – like, check-in was smooth, parking is right there (thank god, because mountain driving is exhausting), and the whole place stays surprisingly quiet even when it’s full. I stayed during late spring when the wildflowers were going crazy, and you could hear the forest waking up in the morning instead of traffic noise. The 9.9 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not fancy in a five-star way, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to disconnect from city life and remember why you love traveling in the first place. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the shower pressure is actually incredible for a mountain pension, which honestly made my entire trip better.

The fantastic setting contributed to our enjoyment, and we ended up gaining a few kilograms due to the delectable cuisine.
Awesome location, very clean, nice hosts, excellent local food. There is even a kitchen fully equipped for breakfast. Owners, 'tanti' Maria and 'nea' Cornel are more than happy to help for a perfect stay at the location. Amazing scenery and plenty of relaxation areas to spend the time.
At the Pensiunea Casa Eden welcome is the watchword, it is just like staying at home.
Just arrived the owner of the structure, as well as the chef, greeted us with a good typical Romanian lunch offered by her and everything was delicious. We then took the opportunity of the dinner package plus breakfast and of course these were also really good and abundant.
Also excellent was the waiting service of the lady’s daughter who cared to ask us if everything was to our liking.
Not to mention the landscape in which it is located, a joy for the eyes.

Pensiunea este foarte curată, camera a fost spațioasă și foarte călduroasă.
Doamna Maria este deosebit de ospitalieră și ne-a făcut să ne simțim ca și acasă, iar mâncarea făcută de dumneaei a fost cea mai bună pe care am mâncat-o vreodată.
camerele au fost foarte curate, paturi comfirtabile, asternuturi curate, nimic de obiectat! bucataria cam mica dar echipata cu tot ce ai nevoie. Locul de relaxare a fost incalzita bine, am avut multe jocuri, carti, remi, monopoly, masa de ping pong si biliard, a fost o placere pentru copil, si noi impreuna cu el ne-am distrat de minune!! Gazdele au fost foarte amabili, mereu cu zambetul pe buze, dimineata am fost serviti cu clatite, cornulete si placinta (ca la bunica acasa), a fost o placere sa petrecem 3 nopti acolo, si sper sa mai revenim!!

Am avut parte de o minivacanta minunata la Casa Eden. Gazda, doamna Maria, este o femeie deosebita si foarte primitoare. Mancarea traditionala pregatita de doamna Maria este exceptionala si portiile foarte generoase. Se serveste micul de jun si cina pentru care trebuie vorbit inainte. Micul dejun este foarte bogat pt ca doamna Maria are de grija de oaspetii ei si nu ii lasa sa plece la sanius fara sa isi poata face un pachetel pentru pranz. Camerele sunt confortabile , calduroase si foarte curate. Pentru noi a fost un mare plus si sala de jocuri cu biliard, masa de ping pong, remi, carti si multe alte jocuri, unde am petrecut multe ore pline de distractie.
Se spune ca omul sfinteste locul, in aceasta situatie pot sa spun ca o gazda minunata ca doamna Maria face o pensiune sa fie de succes si un loc unde sa te intorci cu drag.
Gazdă minunată! Doamna Maria, foarte atentă la nevoile celor cazați! Mâncare delicioasă. Zona superbă! O să revin cu plăcere!
