You’re close enough to Alba Iulia that you can easily do a day trip to see the fortress (about 20 minutes by car), but far enough out that you get that authentic rural Romanian experience. The mornings are incredibly quiet – just birds and maybe a neighbor’s rooster – which honestly was exactly what I needed after months of city noise. Plus, the Carpathian foothills start getting really beautiful around here, so if you’re into hiking or just want some decent photos, you’re in good territory. The hosts seem to know the area well and can point you toward trails that aren’t completely overrun with tourists. Actually, now that I think about it, the breakfast they served used local ingredients – you could taste the difference in the eggs and cheese, that fresh quality you just can’t get in supermarkets.

Sure, it’s not fancy in a luxury hotel sense, but the 3-star rating feels right – comfortable, reliable, with that personal attention that makes you feel like you’re staying with people who genuinely want you to have a good time. If you’re the type who needs 24-hour room service and a spa, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want a solid base for exploring Alba County without the tourist crowds, and you appreciate when small details are done well, Casa Buna delivers on exactly what it promises.
