You know what struck me first about Peak Apartments? The name actually makes sense – you’re literally perched up on Bulevardul Gării with this amazing view that most hotels in Brașov would kill for. I mean, it’s not fancy (it’s a solid 3-star), but honestly, the location does half the work for you. You’re close enough to the old town that you can walk to Council Square in about 15 minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the weekend party crowds stumbling around at 2 AM. The train station is right there too, which is clutch if you’re doing the whole Transylvania circuit – I saw tons of people heading off to Sighișoara and Sibiu right from the neighborhood.
The apartments themselves are pretty straightforward, but here’s the thing – they’re actually apartments, not just hotel rooms with a kitchenette shoved in the corner. You get real space to spread out, decent-sized windows (important in a city where some places feel like caves), and kitchens you can actually cook in. The building has that communist-era apartment block vibe from the outside, but don’t let that fool you – inside it’s been properly renovated. I was surprised by how quiet it was, considering you’re on a main boulevard. The walls are thick, I guess, because even with trams running outside, I slept fine. Parking was easier than I expected too – there’s usually spots on the street, and the host actually knows which areas are free versus where you’ll get a ticket.
What really sells this place, though, is that 9.8 rating – and after staying there, I get it. The owners clearly give a damn. Check-in was smooth (they’ll meet you if you’re arriving late), everything worked properly, and when I had a question about getting to Râșnov Citadel, they didn’t just point me toward Google Maps. They actually explained the bus situation and mentioned that Thursday mornings are less crowded. It’s those little touches that make the difference. Plus, you’re staying in a real neighborhood here – there’s a decent grocery store two blocks down, a bakery that opens early if you’re planning day trips, and you’ll see actual Romanian families going about their business instead of just tourists. The whole area feels more authentic than staying right in the old town bubble, but you’re still close enough to duck back for a quick shower before dinner. For the price point, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights, it’s honestly hard to beat.
